Text-Based Web Browser*

Text-Based Browsers are ran in unix or any terminal to... I don't really know the purpose of them.

Here is what I use to get this:

  • CYGWIN
  • OpenSSH
  • w3m
  • Links
  • PuTTy
I use OpenSSH and Putty to access websites at school instead of waiting 4 years for the proxy to load an image or a script.

The first browser is w3m. w3m loads html better in my opinion, here is a screenshot (crapshot) of w3m in the index of the forums:

I know, bad quality, but it works great with cookies and it has bookmarks & tabs. Check it out.

Now this one, Links, It's okay for faster use without stuff.
Here is a screenshot of Links (Lynx) in Wikipedia:

Anyway, would you use these? which one and why?
